Change, evolution, and fervour are as part of the Communication industry as of our everyday life. The instinct and inclination towards innovation are deeply rooted in the human nature and are what drive us to improve ourselves and set us on a path of discovery – or at least, they encourage us to try and get ourselves into the game.
At the same time, there is something that can curb our enthusiasm and keep us stuck in a rut: habits and routine lead us to believe that staying on the on the most familiar road is the best choice. But, as time goes by, the novelty becomes familiar, part of our rituals and, consequentially, our life adapts to include it.
In Italy too, we have become familiar with “Black Friday”, a shopping event imported from the USA. In spite of everything, the purpose is clear: sell, sell, sell at favourable prices and especially at a crucial time since we are close to Christmas and its traditional shopping frenzy.
Black Friday is no longer a novelty, it has become an integral part of our lives and … voilà: we have a new tradition.

A new kind of shopping

The days are slipping away, before we know it, Christmas will be here. If you have taken a break from your Christmas shopping, or have not started it yet, this is the right time for you to get started on your to-buy list. As per usual, this period of the year sees an increase of our blood pressure and stress levels. No one is safe. We are talking about the race to buy the Christmas presents, an event that most people tend to postpone thinking “there is still time”, but that then ends up turning into a nightmare of epic proportions, as we wonder among the half-empty and messy counters of a department store on the evening of December 24th. The experience usually leaves us dissatisfied and defeated.
If you have had enough, and this year can do without the customary anxiety, you can take advantage of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which offer a great opportunity to shop for your loved ones in comfort.
Online, no queues, lit by the comforting, blue light of your screen: the web holds a myriad of offers. With its Total Black Friday, Mediaworld can suggest the perfect present, especially if you’re looking for hi-tech solutions; Yoox, the online fashion outlet, differs with its Black Week and proposes discounts on unique pieces. When it comes to fashion, Zalando does not put the emphasis on the Black Friday per say, but nods at it in the Promo section, where the “Only Black Friday Deals” option is available.
More noticeably, Amazon proposes “Black Friday” across the departments: from fashion to technology, through beauty and sports. It might be a good opportunity to buy yourself a fitness tracker, which has now replaced the classic watch for those who have not yet swapped it for a smartwatch. It would give you the strength and the spur to cope with the next cataclysm: the Christmas dinner!
